Emergency Services Chaplain Corps

The Emergency Services Chaplain Corps is a field service ministry incorporated in 2004. It serves police, fire, victim services, and Scenic Mountain ER and their families, and works through law enforcement to act as victims advocates to the citizens of Big Spring and Howard County. The Chaplaincy continually provides the service of trained critical incident Chaplains on a 24 hour/ 7 day a week basis, with both proactive and reactive responses. We serve a combination of 6 agencies at 6 locations including City, County, and State agencies.
Proactive Responses
* Ride-Alongs - Patrol Officers and Fire Fighters
* Visitations - All agencies, sworn and non-sworn alike
* Backup Resources - List of current available resources
* Weddings - Including pre-marital counseling
* Training - Related law enforcement topics
Reactive Responses
* Crisis Intervention - Mediation or invention for suicide
attempts or threaths
* Death Notifications - "On call" to assist all agencies as
necessary
* Counseling Services - For families of each agency served
(job, marriage, family, stress)
* Funeral or Memorial Services
* Critical Incident Stress Management (defusing & de-
briefing) - To all first responders
* Visitation - To sick or injured personnel of the agencies
served
Volunteer Associate Chaplains
The ESCC also utilizes a Corps of Volunteer Chaplains. These Chaplains are ordained/licensed ministers who go through a specialized FTO program and receive training in a variety of topics like Death Notifications, Crime Scene Logistics,. Ride-Along Procedures, Bloodborne/Airborne Pathogens, Ethics, and suicides, to name but a few. Each Chaplain attends a monthly training seminar, rides a shift either with Law Enforcement or Fire, and writes a monthly report.
Non-profit Status
The Emergency Services Chaplain Corps is a non-profit, 501 (c) (3) religious corporation. Its funding comes through Private and Corporate Donations.
